Robert “Bob” Donald Putnam
Robert “Bob” Donald Putnam, age 80, of Erie, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.
Born on January 28, 1943 in Warren, PA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Ferry) Notoro.
Bob graduated from Warren High School, Class of 1960. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Constellation and the USS Saratoga during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He remained active in the Navy Reserve until 1992. He was employed by General Electric as a machinist for 46 years, until retiring in 2010. Bob was an active member of the Wesleyville Baptist Church for 50 years, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a lay minister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary E. (Parker) Putnam; his daughters, Denise Putnam and Jennifer Vrenna (David); his son, Robert R. Putnam (Joycie); his sisters, Frankie Jo Johnson and Kathie Notoro; 6 grandchildren, Heather Shotts, Kacie Shotts, Samuel Vrenna, Zachary Vrenna, Fiona Putnam, and Ellie Putnam; 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Wesleyville Baptist Church, 3509 Buffalo Road, Erie, PA 16510 on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 12:00 PM.
