Dennis Le Mott Harkness

Dennis Le Mott Harkness, age 44, of Erie, PA, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017.  Dennis passed away at home after a short, but fierce and courageous, battle with cancer. He was born in Meadville, PA on May 13, 1973.

Dennis earned his Associate degree in Maintenance Electricity and Construction Technology.  A hard-working electrician by trade, he was employed with Priority Electric.  For him, life was best when spent exploring creeks, sliding down cliffs and gaming with his boys. He enjoyed sharing his love of craft beer with friends, listening to music and visiting with family. He cherished being a doting Grandpa to "Dirka".  An avid gamer, He started every day with 'Street Fighter', coffee and a smile.  Not a morning together passed without greeting Kathy with kind & loving gestures to start her day.  Dennis’s tenacious but light-hearted and loving nature, his unique sense of humor and fearlessness will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him.

Dennis is survived by his newly wedded wife, girlfriend of 11 years, Kathleen (Bell) Cote-Harkness; his father and step mother, Dennis P. Harkness and Darlene (Diest) Harkness of Girard; his mother and step father, Jo Ann (Belden) Johnson and Rusty Johnson of Elmira, NY; 3 sons, Dennis P. Harkness - USAF and his wife, Megan, of Albuquerque, NM, Matthew R. Harkness of Erie, PA, and David J. Harkness of North East, PA; a step daughter, Sarah M. Bell and her fiancé, Chris Ray, of Fairview: 2 sisters, Bo Harkness and her companion, Chris Floyd: Tanya Johnson and her companion, Jeff Saxton, of Elmira, NY; 2 brothers, Aaron Harkness of PA, and Gregory Johnson and his wife, Jamie, of MS; his granddaughter and cohort, "Dirka", Brooke Allgeier of Fairview.  He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews whom he loved dearly. Many Aunts, Uncles and cousins who were supportive and loving throughout his life for which he was always grateful.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie; his grandfather, Dennis Harkness; his grandmother, Marjorie Harkness Lacey; and his beloved step mom, Lynn (Undercofler) Harkness.

Dennis’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Regional Home Health and Hospice Services of Erie for their amazing kindness and incredible care. You were the rainbow amongst the storm clouds.

There will be no viewing or visitation. A Memorial Service for Dennis will be announced at a later date.
