Margaret Rose Tallmadge
Margaret Rose Tallmadge passed away August 31, 2022 at age 79 after a battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at her home with family and friends by her side.
The daughter of Michael Polagyi and Violet Kestle Polagyi Abreu, stepdaughter of Manuel “Shorty” Abreu, she was born in Erie, PA on March 28, 1943, where she lived her whole life.
Margaret had a loving and caring nature toward people with a great memory for details in their lives. Able to light up a room with her presence, she was the life of the party and cornerstone of the family. She welcomed visits with family and friends any time and was always available for a late-night call. She looked forward to meeting with her ‘senior group’ at Penbriar fitness club and enjoyed shopping for holiday decorations, especially Christmas and Halloween. Over the years, she compiled a collection that would impress the most discerning decoration enthusiast. Her most cherished treasures were those made or gifted to her by those she loved.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Norman Tallmadge; their three children, Jack Tallmadge (Weslene), Susan Armstrong (Gary), and Chad Tallmadge. Margaret is also survived by her six grandchildren, Rachel Tallmadge (Tyler), Zachary Tallmadge (Anna), Emily Tallmadge, DJ Armstrong (Hannah), Jacob Tallmadge, Megan Tallmadge; two great grandchildren, Hansel and Morgan; 1 nephew, 4 nieces, and many longtime friends.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl “Cub” Polagyi (Donna), Donald “Dapper” Polagyi (Jeanne), and Mike “Junior” Polagyi (Jackie), and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte “Sis” DeGeorge (Albert, “Snub”) and Jean Koen (Richard), and 1 nephew, Richard DeMarco.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, and grandchildren that were the center of her life.
At Margaret’s request, the funeral will be private.
