Ian McManus

Ian McManus of Erie, Pa, 49 years of age died quietly in his sleep on October 23, 2023.

He was the loving life partner of Julie Natale, an entertaining brother, and devoted son.  He was a self-described individual of useless information. Some people may have found it difficult describing exactly what Ian did for a living. Some said he worked in aviation, some said cinema, others said he may have been just a man who lived in a messy apartment. He considered himself retired, immersing himself in a variety of comedy movies and series, showering anyone, regardless of their interest, with his reviews and insights. He loved NASA history and jets.  His most recent residence landed him next to the runway of the local airport, a dream realized.   Ian was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan, instigated by his maternal grandfather.  Additionally, he was referred to as “Ian News at 11” given his propensity to be first in providing his family and friends with the current news of the day.

Ian is survived by his life partner, Julie Natale; his mother, Diana McManus; two brothers, Timothy McManus and Robert McManus, and stepfather, John Altman.  Now Ian has left us to gather our own useless information and indulge in the reruns of our loving memories of him. We miss him greatly!

Ian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Katherine and Robert Orbanek.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 9367 Wattsburg Road, Erie, PA 16509.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Arborday.org or givetostairwaysbh.org.
