 Florence “Flo” Louise (Johnson) Askins McQueeney

Florence “Flo” L. McQueeney, age 80, formerly of Wesleyville and Harborcreek, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Forestview Healthcare at SpringHill.

Born in Cambridge Springs, PA on April 11, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Edward P. and Margaret L. (Green) Johnson.

Moving to Wesleyville as a child, she graduated from Wesleyville High School, Class of 1959.  Florence worked in retail sales at P.F. Donahue and Stylish Women. She retired after several years at Barnes & Noble. She married Albert S. “Stan” Askins, who preceded her in death on August 3, 1985.  She then married Theodore C. “Ted” McQueeney on October 3, 2003.  He preceded her in death on November 5, 2006.

Florence was a devout member of the Wesleyville Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir and participated in many church functions.  Florence always looked forward to her High School class reunions, and loved to bake and cook. She enjoyed traveling and taking vacations to new places. She loved spending time, especially holidays, with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Christopher B. Askins (Gretchen) and Craig W. Askins (Dana); her grandchildren, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Collin, Courtney, and Corinne; her step children, Tina Wienczkowski (Don), Troy McQueeney (Lisa), Tracy Linton (Ken), and Rose McQueeney, and their children and grandchildren; her sisters in law, Doreen Johnson and Rosie Podluzne, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her sister, Eleanor (Johnson) Buzard; her brother, Edward Paul Johnson, Jr.; a niece, Deborah (Johnson) Goodman, and stepson, Theodore C. McQueeney, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 at the Wesleyville Baptist Church, 3509 Buffalo Road, Erie, PA 16510 from 5:00 PM until the Funeral Service at 7:00, officiated by Pastor Mark McCallion.

Private interment will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wesleyville Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
