Gary “Joe” Mitchell
On July 2, 2022, Gary “Joe” Mitchell died in Erie, Pennsylvania after a long battle with his health. Joe was 66 years old.
He was born on March 2, 1956 in Tennessee. He graduated from Harbor Creek High School in 1974 and went on to further his education in the tool and die industry.
He loved fishing and various outdoor sports. His favorite thing was to meet new people, soak up the sunshine, and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to help people and was a passionate advocate for the disabled in Erie County. He was always there when you needed him and the first person to crack a joke! He was a bright light for everyone he came in contact with and will be deeply missed.
Joe is survived by his children, Josh Mitchell of Erie, Pennsylvania, Adam Mitchell (Melanie) of Erie Pennsylvania, Ashley Sheeder (Andrew) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Marissa Mitchell (Rob) of North East, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his siblings, Mark Mitchell (Marion) of Erie, Pennsylvania, Candi Powell of Mentor, Ohio, Bonnie Thompson of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Tammy Mitchell (Bob) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Joe Mitchell is preceded in death by his father, Perry Mitchell and his mother, Lydia (Triggs) Mitchell; his brother, Terry Mitchell; his sister, Mitzi Cook, all from Erie, Pennsylvania, as well as a nephew and grandson.
Family and friends are invited to a ceremony and Celebration of Life for Gary on Saturday, August 13, 2022 beginning at 1:00 PM at Skibinski Park, 5571 Henderson Road, Erie, PA 16509.
