Cheryl (Houston) Shepard
Cheryl (Houston) Shepard, 65, a lifelong resident of Erie, Pa, passed away unexpectedly on November 21, 2022 at UPMC Hamot.
Cheryl was born on July 25, 1957 to the late Dwight and Audrey (Harper) Houston. She attended McDowell High School. She was married to Melvin Shepard.
Cheryl’s grandchildren brought brightness into her life and they just loved her so much. She marched to the beat of her own drum. Cheryl had a rebel soul. Back in the day, you could see her riding around on her motorcycle (before her stroke) with total freedom. She could often be found watching Chuck Norris and loved westerns. She always loved a man in cowboy boots and hat. One could find her doing crosswords or cuddling with her 2 cats Max and Lily.
Cheryl had the time of her life when her oldest son Ian took her to Ireland. She loved all things Irish. She especially enjoyed the local Irish festival as well as attending the Medieval Faire every summer.
Cheryl is survived by her 5 children, Ian Lord (Susan), Nick Lord (Cindy), Fauna Gibbens (Donald), Melvin Shepard (Tara), and Shane Shepard (Crystal); her siblings, Eddis Kranz, Rhonda Dascomb, and Michael Houston (Jill), and her 19 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Shepard, and her siblings, Doug Houston and Bonnie Stafford.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
There will be no viewing or visitation per Cheryl’s request. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help defray expenses.
