Dale L. Pier, Sr.

Dale L. Pier, Sr., age 72, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, with his family by his side, after a short battle with liver cancer.

Per Dale’s request, if your doctor has ever mentioned fatty liver in talks, please follow up.  If one person reading this does that, it would mean so much to him.

Dale was born on April 12, 1951 in Erie, PA, the son of the late Norman L. Pier and Alice Moore.

Dale graduated from the Wattsburg Area School District.

He worked in Building 13 test and locomotive test before retiring from General Electric after 38 years of service.  With his wife Lyn, Dale became a real estate investor and loved rehabbing homes and teaching others how to.  He was an amazing man, who could do everything from flying to building his own home.  Dale was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Dale loved spending time with his grandson, Bradley, fishing at the pond and watching him excel in karate.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Pier, of almost 40 years, and a brother, Lowry Pier.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lyn (Norton) Pier of Albion PA: his sisters, Darlene (Richard) Smith of Wattsburg, PA and Debra Glotz of Warren, PA; his son, Dale L. Pier, Jr. (Lisa) of Wattsburg PA; his daughter, Kelly Pier Sanchez of Chattanooga, TN, and his grandson Bradley Pier.

Dale is survived by Lyn’s children, Maggie (Richard) Swedenhjelm of Glendale AZ, and Chrissy (Paul) Ahlbrandt of Springboro, PA.  He was called ‘Great Grand Dale’ by his many step-grand and great grand-children who loved visiting him.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Emily Newhard for helping out when needed, Janelle from Heritage Home Health, and Sara from Hospice for going beyond and above in helping Lyn with Dale staying at home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Millcreek Karate, 2503 West 15th Street, #3, Erie, PA 16505.

Please join us in a Memorial Service for Dale on August 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM.  It will be at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 190 Hunter Willis Road, Erie, PA 16509.  There will be a dinner following the service.
