 Helen (Andriopoulos) Vocatura

Helen (Andriopoulos) Vocatura, beloved mother, sister, and aunt, passed away on August 19, 2021.

She was born on October 22, 1934 in Athens, Greece and immigrated along with her family to New York City in 1946.  She began studying the bible at the age of 16 with a fellow classmate, Mary Aliferis, who was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. 

Helen married Joseph Vocatura in 1955 and moved to Loch Haven, Pa.  Afterwards she moved to Kittanning Pa,  Baltimore Md,  Rhinebeck NY,  Westfield NJ, and finally Erie, Pa. Helen made lifelong friends along the way.

She will be remembered for her love of people, and love of life. She loved music, singing, and playing the violin.

She taught young children math in the school program “Head Start” for many years. She also worked as a bank teller for years, and in accounting in Maryland and upstate New York.

She was an excellent Bible teacher and had a firm belief in the Bible's promise that the meek would inherit a paradise earth.

She is survived by her daughter, Cara Rahal and son-in-law Eric; her brother, John Andriopoulos and his wife Bessie; her sister, Maria Hall and her husband Gunnar, and her sisters Joanna Ayala, Irene Pappas, and Catherine Jouvanis, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
