Paul Kuzma
1937 – 2026

Paul Kuzma, age 88, of Erie, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was a man who lived life with curiosity, possessed a fun-loving spirit, and a passion for golf.  Paul went to meet his God, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, inquisitiveness, and a well-lived life.

Born in Erie in August of 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Grega) Kuzma.

A proud graduate of Erie Prep and Gannon University, Paul’s journey began in the world of science. While majoring in Chemistry, he worked at Heyl Physicians Supply, where he became a local legend among aspiring young scientists. Paul didn't just provide medical supplies; he used his expertise to help middle and high school students source the chemicals needed to get their backyard rockets airborne. He often looked back with fond curiosity, wondering where those "young rocket scientists" eventually landed in life.

Paul’s professional career was as sweet as it was successful. After beginning at Welch Foods, he rose to executive positions at several food companies in Minneapolis. There, he spearheaded Research & Development creating chocolate, caramel, and fruit toppings for ice cream and other food products. His expertise was recognized nationally, earning him a seat on the Executive Advisory Panel of Food Engineering.

Beyond his professional achievements, Paul’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Fran; his sons, Bruce (Gretchen), Peter (Amy), and Trevor; and his beloved grandchildren, Sophie, Max, Quinley, Sawyer, Wrenna and Bella.

He also leaves behind a large, loving family including his brothers, Frank (Elaine), Glenn (Carol), Joe (Birdie), and Mike (Linda); his sisters, Sister Rose, Maryellen, Pauline, and Marilyn, as well as generations of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Sister Anna Mae, and Theresa.

Following Paul’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
