Delores “Dody” Johann Hoover-Suarez
Delores “Dody” Johann Hoover-Suarez, age 88, of North East, PA, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026.
She was born in Chambersburg, PA on August 16, 1937.
A graduate of Chambersburg High School, she was employed as a Medical Secretary at Chambersburg Hospital and married James W. “Jim” Hoover on January 28, 1956. She raised four children with James, who passed away in 1995. She earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts at Penn State – Behrend. She was employed at AAA in North East as a Pennsylvania Notary. Dody was a soldier with the Salvation Army, Erie Temple Corp, where she met her husband, Dorian J. Suarez in 2010. She and Dorian ministered with the Salvation Army together doing League of Mercy work and were married in 2019. Dody was a loving wife. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a member of Highmark PALS. Dody loved the Lord, and enjoyed traveling, knitting, and sewing. Dody was a great and wonderful person. She will be surely missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dorian J. Suarez; her son, James Hoover; her daughters, Judith Davis, Carol Affolter, and Nancy Hoover; her step-daughter, Bethany Suarez; 5 grandchildren, Marguerite, Kelly, Emily, James, and Isaac; 2 step-grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, Aria, Seamus, Rowan, Delaney, and Wrenley.
Following Dody’s wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Salvation Army at a later date.
