Thomas J. Piotrowski

Thomas J. Piotrowski, CPA, age 81, of Waterford, PA, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Throughout his illness, he never allowed it to diminish his determination, spirit, or will to live.

Born in Erie on March 25, 1945, he was the son of the late Matthew C. and Theresa E. (Gaczkowski) Piotrowski.

Tom served his country with the US Air Force where he was a recipient of the Airmen’s Medal of Heroism.  After returning home and earning his degree from Gannon College in Erie, PA, he worked in accounting at the State Correctional Institution in Albion, PA, where he dedicated many years of service.

Tom embraced life and pursued many interests and hobbies.  He especially enjoyed maintaining his freshwater aquariums, ham radio operating, as well as hunting and fly fishing.  He was also a gifted wood carver whose beautifully crafted wall plaques and whimsical caricatures reflected both his remarkable talent and artistic vision.  His creations were true masterpieces and remain a lasting reminder of his creativity, skill, and passion for the craft. 

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Alice (Fischer) Piotrowski, whom he married in 1970; his sister, Diane; his son, Steven Moon (Kory); and his granddaughter, Kaylee.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie.

Tom will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and creativity.

In accordance with his wishes, a private burial will be held.  Memorial donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Waterford Public Library, 25 S. Park Row, Waterford, PA 16441, or to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 E. 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
