Albert "Al" Leon Delfft

Albert "Al" Leon Delfft, 79, of East Springfield, Pennsylvania, peacefully entered in to Heaven's glory October 18, 2018 after a valiant battle with an extended illness.

An unwavering faith in God and the presence of his family provided comfort as Al prepared to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Al was born to the late Leon Delfft and Thora Miller Delfft Funciello, of Erie, Pennsylvania on January 29, 1939 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp.

Al married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Carol Huber, on May 24, 1956.  The couple was blessed with a large family.  As a devoted provider for his wife and children, Al was a dedicated hard worker his entire life.  He always put the needs of his family above his own.

Al was a faithful member of South Side Baptist Church.  The hymn most dear to him was "Amazing Grace", and he sang it like no other.  Al was filled with the Joy of the Lord and it showed through his infectious smile.

Al was a true gentleman and was loved by all who knew him.  There is nothing he wouldn't do to help someone in need.  It was the simple things that Al appreciated most, mentioning regularly how blessed he was in life.

Al enjoyed bowling, golfing, tending to his property, and most of all, spending time with his loved ones.

The family praises God for His wonderful grace in Al's life and would like to thank the compassionate caregivers on the 4th floor of St. Vincent Health Center and at Fairview Manor.  His caregivers were impacted by his positive response to adversity, as he never complained during his struggle.

Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol; his daughter, Lauri (Jeff) Czarnecki, of Millcreek; his sons, Terry (Amy) Delfft of Girard, Dennis Delfft of Ocala, Florida, and Chris Delfft of Erie; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Al is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Delfft; his son, Kevin Delfft; and his daughter, Allison Delfft.

Friends and family are invited to attend Al's Memorial Service on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the South Side Baptist Church, 8184 Peach Street, with Pastor Amery Brenly officiating.
