Gloria Katherine (Bassett) Rahal
Gloria K. Rahal, age 86, of North East, Pa died peacefully at her home on June 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Souhail, who died May 11, 2018.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very hospitable, loved entertaining, and having a good time with friends. She also enjoyed taking long walks with those friends and watching old movies.
Her parents, Sam and Almaza Bassett, came to the United States from Lebanon in 1923 and settled in Toledo, Ohio. Gloria and her family moved to Florida in the 50s. She married Souhail Rahal on August 4th, 1956. She had 4 children in 5 years – Charles, Eric, Veniece, and Juanita.
Souhail introduced her to Jehovah’s Witnesses. She began studying the bible shortly after their marriage and was baptized in 1963 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. After her baptism, she enjoyed sharing what she learned with others who wanted to ‘come to an accurate knowledge of the Bible’. (1 Timothy 2:4) She had a firm belief that God’s will would be done ‘on earth as in heaven’ and that she would be reunited with loved ones in a resurrection on a perfect, peaceful, paradise earth. (Psalms 37:11, 29; Revelation 21:4) We are all looking forward to that time. To respect Gloria’s wishes there will be no funeral services.
