Alphonse Nykelson “Nick” Dobruk

Alphonse Nykelson Dobruk, affectionately known as “Nick”, died on August 22, 2025, in Greene Township, Erie, PA at the age of 90.  He was born on October 10, 1934, in Elk Point, Alberta, Canada to immigrants from Poland, the late Toefil and Marianna (Jaroszuk) Dobruk.

As a young man, Nick moved from Alberta, Canada to Niagara on the Lake, Canada to live with his brother, Joe.  He then moved to the US which led him to the Bible Standard Ministries in Chester Springs, PA. It was during his time there that he met his future wife, Darlene.

Nick was a man of deep faith in God and an avid Bible student, attending or conducting a Bible study group in affiliation with Bible Standard Ministries.

Nick worked at Zurn Industry for almost 40 years spending the majority of those years as a mold maker in Zurn’s Foundry.  In 2001, after 1 year of retirement he bought his first own cargo van. He spent the next 23 years as a courier of medical and industrial products with the majority of those years delivering for NLN of Erie, PA.  His wife was his constant companion until her death January 8, 2018.  He became friends with many people at the companies which he picked up or delivered to in Erie, PA as well as in Meadville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Darlene (Baney) Dobruk; his brothers, Joseph (Beatrice) Dobruk, Chester (Stephania) Dobruk, and Henry Dobruk.

Survivors include his son, Nykelson D. (Christine) Dobruk; grandchildren, Briana (Matt) Krysiak and Nykelson L. Dobruk; great-grandchildren Annalyse Krysiak, Greyson Krysiak and Hudson Krysiak; and sister-in-law, Eileen Dobruk.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
