Paul Richard Holtz

Paul Richard Holtz, 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2026 following a sudden brief illness.

Paul graduated from McDowell High School, served in the National Guard, and ran J.A. Holtz Garage with his brothers until his retirement in 1998. He also owned Paul Holtz Auction Co and loved volunteering his services as an auctioneer, especially for the local 4-H auctions, for over 40 years. He was a skilled mechanic and built and raced both classic and stock cars in the 60s. He had a lifelong passion for fishing and was active member in both the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie and the Lawrence Park Fish Club. Always busy, Paul also loved organic gardening, line dancing, working for himself and others on his John Deere tractors and making and sharing his blue ribbon-winning Grumpy Old Man wine.

His most important goal in life was being the best possible husband and father and his wife and daughter will attest that was his greatest success. He will forever be loved and missed by his family and many friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Diane; his daughter, Linda (Eric) Skelton; as well as his younger brother, Gary (Diane) Holtz; brothers - and sisters-in-law, John (Pamela) Kacpura and Janet Grace, and his nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Lilly J. Holmberg Holtz, and two older brothers, Robert Holtz and Kenneth Holtz.

In accordance with Paul’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
