Clair C. Foster

Clair C. Foster, age 81, of Wattsburg, PA and Okeechobee, FL, passed away on June 5, 2017 after a seven year battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Clair was born on August 26, 1935 to the late Evlyn and Lois Howard Foster. 

Clair graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1953.  He served in the Army in Korea from 1954 to 1957, where he received several commendations, achieving the rank of Corporal.  He worked many years in the area as an electrical inspector.  He was president of the Home Builder's Association of Northwestern PA and received the Man of the Year Award in 1983.  He was a member of the National Association of Home Builder Spike Club.  He loved to build, building more than 28 homes in his spare time and three personal care homes, furnishing over 100 beds for the elderly. 

He really enjoyed helping others with projects, advice, or whatever was needed.

Clair is survived by his wife, Kathleen Hamilton Foster (he called her God's love gift to him); the mother of his children, Marlene McLaren; 2 daughters, Lee Burch (Tim) of Northeast, PA, and Lyn Kress (Jamie) of Waterford, PA;  2 step children, Karla Kimmy (Dean) of Union City, PA, and Kurt Keith of New York, NY;  5 grandchildren, Trevor, Brenan, and Dustin Burch, and Jillian and Braden Kress;  2 step grandchildren, Kyle and Luke Kimmy; and his brother, Merle Foster (Lois) of Apopka, FL.   He is further survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Senita Foster; their daughter, Denise Marie Foster; 3 sisters, Katharine Pier, Elizabeth Johnson, and Marjorie Davis.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wattsburg United Methodist Church, Wattsburg, PA, on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sophie Dernar Memorial Scholarship, in care of the Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th St. Erie, PA 16507.
