David J, Cunningham
David J. Cunningham, 78, of North East, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in St. Mary's, Pa on November 25, 1947, a son of the late Charles and Angela Simbeck Cunningham.
He was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School and went on to serve in the US Army Reserves for 8 years. He worked as a Civil Engineer at Keystone Carbon Company. He and his wife, Mary, also co-owned their Bait and Tackle shop, Da-YV Mart.
David was a member of St. Gregory Parish. He enjoyed hunting and had so much love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was very Patriotic and loved his country.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Taylor Marie Cunningham and his brother, Charles Cunningham.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Eckert Cunningham; his children, David R. Cunningham and Yvonne Schneider (Barry), both of North East; his grandchildren, Jake "Buckey" and Lauren "Baby Girl" Schneider; his brother, Mark Cunningham (Gerianne); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass at St Gregory Parish Church, 50 S. Pearl St., North East, Pa 16428 on Thursday, November 12 at 2 PM with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family..
Memorial contributions can be made to Erie VA Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, Pa 16504 with “Homeless Veterans” in David’s memory in the memo section on a check.
